Setting up a CNAME record for any one of the domain addresses or subdomains you've got in a hosting account allows you to redirect it to a different domain/subdomain. The forwarded Internet domain will lose all its records - A, MX and so on, and will take the records of the domain it's being directed to. In this light, you simply can't create a CNAME record to redirect your domain to a third-party provider and retain a working email service with the first provider. It's also important to note that a CNAME record is always a string of words and not a number as it's regularly wrongly identified as the A record of the domain name being redirected. One of the primary uses of a CNAME record is to point a domain you own through one company to the servers of some other provider in case you have set up a website with the latter. By doing this, the website will appear under your own domain address, not under some subdomain provided by the third-party provider.

In case you have a website hosting plan from our company and you want to create a CNAME record, it'll take you only a few mouse clicks to get it done. You can access the DNS records for all domain addresses and subdomains hosted inside your account through the Hepsia CP included with each and every plan and adding a new record is as basic as clicking on a button, selecting the type, which is CNAME in this case, entering the actual record value and saving the modification. If you've never added such a record before, you will discover a Help section with a detailed video tutorial which you can watch, or you can simply contact us and we will help you with this task. If you have set up an Internet site via another provider, you want to use a private URL for your webmail or you want to designate a subdomain to be used with the services of a different company, like Google Apps, all it takes is setting up a CNAME record with a couple of clicks inside your Control Panel.
